Q: Where is Half Moon Bay, exactly?Half Moon Bay is part of the "Coastside" area approximately 20 miles south of San Francisco on Highway 1. It extends from Montara at the north end, through Moss Beach, El Granada, Half Moon Bay and Pescadero. It includes small family farms, surfing spots, tidepools, a working harbor with fresh fish, excellent shopping and dining, and gorgeous sunsets over the Pacific Ocean. You can reach Palo Alto in about 40 minutes and downtown San Francisco in about 35 minutes.Q: Does it get foggy in Half Moon Bay?Yes, but not as much as you might think. According to official statistics, Half Moon Bay has 259 sunny days a year, which is higher than the national average of 200. Temperatures peak in September and are usually between 55-75 degrees F. Fog usually shows up on summer evenings, when it's kind of nice to have a cool fogbank sweep over the house and cool things down. We like to think of it as "coastal air conditioning"! :-)Q: What size/type/number of beds do you have?Master Bedroom: King Tempur-pedic bed, harbor view, private deck, private bath2nd Bedroom: Queen Pillowtop bed, bathroom in the hall 3rd Bedroom: 2 Twin bunkbeds (4 mattresses total), bathroom in the hall Family room: Queen sleeper sofa with private bathroom Q:How many adults can sleep at Harbor Vista? How many people total? We can sleep 8 adults comfortably and up to 10 people total. We have enough beds, dishes, linens and towels for 10 people.Q:Does each bedroom have a bathroom? The master bedroom has a master bathroom, the two upstairs guest bedrooms (the queen bed and twin bunkbeds) share a bathroom, and the downstairs family room with sleeper sofa has its own bathroom. Every bathroom has a shower, and the master bath has a large tub.Q: How many floors are there? It's a multi-level home: a downstairs family room, a half flight up to the kitchen/dining room/living room area, and another half-flight up to the bedrooms.Q: Can I walk to the beach?Yes we are only 1/2 mile away, but our home is on a hillside overlooking the ocean, so it's an easier walk there than back. There are numerous parking lots right next to the beach, and we're only 1/2 mile away, so it's easy to drive down and park.Q: Are there stores nearby?Yes, there is a market about a mile away, and a Safeway grocery store about 4 miles south. Also, in Summer '08 they are opening a shopping center about 1.5 miles away at the harbor called "The Shoppes at Harbor Village".Q: Is Harbor Vista owned by a company? No, we own the home and run it ourselves using an LLC to keep finances separate. Until recently, Harbor Vista was our family home, and we sometimes stay there ourselves while visiting friends in the area. We strive to make it a family-friendly rental that we enjoy staying at too.Q: Is the backyard fenced?Yes, the entire backyard is fenced.Q: How much parking do you have?We have space for 3 cars at the top of the driveway in front of our garage, and room for another 3 cars on the street in front of the house.Q: Can I have a dinner/wedding/company party at your home?Like most vacation homes, we don't have the liability coverage to have unregistered guests or more than 10 people at the house. However, there are several places in town where you could have a 10+ person event: Mezzaluna restaurant (great Italian and a large room to rent), Pasta Moon (they have a back room), Half Moon Bay Brewery, Sam's (3 rooms and real New England clambakes!), Cetrella(Fabulous food and a great bar) and Miramar Beach Restaurant (very close by). | |||||||||||||
